rooted in a deep connection to the land, and a living sense of community.
A Permaculture demonstrative ecolodge habitat,
envisioned by Terganic Regenerative.

A living habitat rooted in change, shaped as a showcase for regenerative ecology
For generations, these slopes were shaped by sugar cane monoculture - a landscape simplified, compacted, and slowly drained of its natural vitality. When we stepped onto this land, we found tired soils and silent biodiversity waiting for a chance to breathe again.
Season after season, we restored life through the principles of permaculture - rebuilding soil health, capturing water, planting trees, and reintroducing diversity at every level. Birds, insects, and native species returned as the land transformed into a mosaic of orchards, gardens, forest edges, and living water systems.
Today, Terganic Farmstay stands as a demonstrative ecolodge habitat - a place where visitors can experience regeneration in real time. What was once monoculture is now a thriving, resilient landscape, and a living example of what careful design, patience, and ecological stewardship can bring back to Mauritius.

Demonstrating eco systemic habitats for resilience.
Terganic Farmstay is the home of Terganic Regenerative and the living base of everything we do. Here, guests step into our working landscape – food forests, edible gardens, and regenerating terraces that show how design, ecology, and hospitality can come together in a single valley. At the centre of the farmstay sits Lakaz Kana, our warm table d’hôtes where the day’s harvest becomes seasonal cuisine and guests gather around shared meals. It is the soul of our hospitality and a reflection of the land that surrounds it. Just nearby, La Petite Ferme complements this experience with three lodges set among orchards and gardens. Together, these places form part of La Meule Eco-Hamlet – a long-term vision of a small, nature-connected community.

Permaculture education rooted in science, expression, and the living land
As pioneers of Permaculture Design education in Mauritius, we offer a full range of hands-on courses, from introductory workshops to advanced thematic modules, and the complete 72-hour Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC). At Terganic Farmstay, learning is not confined to a classroom only; it flows through daily farm life, field demonstrations, ecological science, land-art expressions, and the creative arts that help people reconnect with nature.
Our workshops bridge knowledge and experience: soil science, water management, agroforestry, syntropic farming, natural building, ecosystem restoration, energy resilience, community design - and also drawing, mapping, storytelling, sensory observation, and the artistic practices that awaken intuition and creativity. We teach permaculture as both a science and an art: a practical toolkit, a design philosophy, and a way of seeing the world.
Whether you come to strengthen your skills, explore regenerative living, start your own project, or simply sow the seeds of change within yourself, our farmstay offers a sanctuary for growth - of soil, of soul, and of society.

Where fresh harvest becomes a meal and a moment of connection
At the heart of Terganic Farmstay stands Lakaz Kana - our table d’hôtes where the gardens meet the table in the most natural way. Here, every meal begins long before it reaches the kitchen: in the orchard, the vegetable beds, the herb spirals, the food forest, and the daily harvest that guides our menu. What grows in the soil becomes the soul of the cuisine.
Our dishes celebrate freshness, seasonality, and the quiet beauty of simple ingredients grown with care. Vegetables, fruits, herbs, wild greens, flowers, and local produce are transformed into meals that carry the taste of the land - honest, colorful, nourishing. Nothing rushed, nothing forced; just the rhythm of the valley expressed on a plate.
Lakaz Kana is more than a dining space - it is a meeting place, a warm house of sharing, where people gather, talk, and reconnect around food that carries meaning. It is the heart of our ecovillage, a space where community, culture, and nature come together, one meal at a time.

Journeys through living landscapes of nature, culture, and coastlines
Our guided tours and trails take you into the heart of the land - from gardens and orchards to the wild forests. The Farm Garden Trail weaves through syntropic rows, medicinal plants, compost systems, and water-harvesting features for a hands-on experience of regenerative agrihood.
From there, the paths open toward the valley, the mountains, and the sea. Follow the Waterfront or Mangrove Trails to the shoreline, or climb toward Praying Lady Peak, Piton Rouge, and the Cat and the Mouse ridgeline for sweeping views. Along the coast, the walk enters Bambous Virieux village, with street food, corner shops, family eateries, and fishermen bringing in the day’s catch. On the other side, the Grand Sable village vegetable gardens add another touch of local culture.
Together, these trails form a journey through landscapes both cultivated and wild, from forest shade to coastal breeze, from ecological design to village traditions. Here, you step into the authentic Mauritius - the island of warm communities, simple flavors, and living landscapes, echoing the Mauritius of 40 years ago, far beyond the polished commercial tourist circuits, offering a simplicity that lets you truly relax, unwind, and slip out of time.

A Living Sanctuary of Mauritian Wildlife,
unfolding in the quiet of the land.
Our valley hosts a rich blend of native and endemic life, shaped by mountain forests, coastal winds, and regenerating landscapes. As you explore our gardens and food forests, you’ll find moringa, vetiver, medicinal herbs, fruit trees, and pockets of endemic flora thriving in restored soil.
Wildlife moves freely around the farmstay. At dawn or dusk you may spot wild boars, deer, or hares along the slopes, while above you glide the paille-en-queue, the swift Mauritian kestrel, and the gentle silhouettes of fruit bats. Day geckos, dragonflies, and endemic butterflies add colour and motion throughout the day.
Through careful land regeneration and permaculture design, Terganic is becoming a safe haven for this biodiversity. Whether you’re strolling through the gardens or watching the valley from your lodge, the flora and fauna here offer a direct, intimate connection to Mauritius’ natural heritage.

A retreat where artistry
meets the science of the land.
More than a farmstay - A creative sanctuary where art, ecology, and culture intertwine. Guests come together to explore the living dialogue between human imagination and the wisdom of the land. The gardener’s hands meet the artist’s eyes - where soil and spirit grow in harmony.
Together Lakaz Kana and Terganic Farmstay are aiming to evolve into a place, midway between an art gallery and an ecological training center - a space to learn, create and share. A place where ideas that builds tomorrow takes root, where nourishing food connects people, and where art gives voice to the soul.
Guests come, seeking connections and inspiration - to rediscover themselves and the expressions of their souls. They come to create, exhibit, and reflect; to experience the beauty of nature translated into form, color, and taste. Art becomes a path to awareness - each piece, each meal, each new awakening is a living reflection of the earth that inspires it.

Recognized as a Saint Kateri Habitat for the protection of creation
The Saint Kateri Conservation Center is a Catholic movement dedicated to caring for creation, inspired by Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, the first Indigenous saint of North America. Kateri was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI during a Mass at the Vatican, St. Peter’s Square, on October 21, 2012, after having been beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1980. Her life, shaped by deep faith and a profound bond with the natural world, has made her a central spiritual figure for ecological stewardship.
La Meule Eco-Hamlet, being registered as a Saint Kateri Habitat means committing to these principles: protecting soil, water, trees, wildlife, and plant life; restoring natural ecosystems; and cultivating a way of living that is respectful, simple, and deeply connected to creation. This recognition is given to places that choose to treat the land as a sacred sanctuary.
At Terganic Farmstay, this commitment guides everything we do. Our registration as a Saint Kateri Habitat honors our mission to regenerate soil, heal water systems, plant trees, protect local species, and practice agriculture in harmony with nature. As part of this international community, we humbly carry the responsibility to restore our valley, share this knowledge, and inspire those seeking a more meaningful relationship with the living world.
